<abstract xml:lang="ru">

      <trans-abstract xml:lang="en">

This article examines the role of gendered metaphors in shaping narratives about law, the judiciary, and the professional identity of judges based on a comprehensive analysis of contemporary English-language legal discourse. The study aims to identify masculine and feminine metaphors in discourse about the judiciary, determine their role in shaping professional identity, and trace the transition from a rigid gender binary to more complex, synthetic metaphorical models reflecting the changing narrative about the judicial system in times of crisis. Gender metaphors, acting as a fundamental cognitive mechanism, unconsciously reinforce archaic stereotypes. The analysis shows that legal discourse reproduces traditional gender oppositions, where masculine is associated with strength, control, and protection, and feminine with vulnerability, care, and preservation. The study utilizes a comprehensive approach that combines critical discourse analysis to uncover hidden ideological assumptions, demonstrating how gender metaphors actively construct social reality by assigning specific roles to judges; cognitive linguistics to analyze metaphorical models as modes of thought; gender analysis to interpret these models within the context of cultural codes of masculinity and femininity; and narrative analysis to understand how these metaphors form a coherent narrative about the judiciary. The empirical basis of the study is comprised of articles from the professional journals "Judicature" and "Law and Contemporary Problems", which allowed for the identification of gender metaphorical patterns characteristic of contemporary American legal discourse. The study identified trends toward overcoming gender binaries and the formation of a "synthetic" professional judicial identity that integrates the values of strength and resilience, as well as empathy and mutual support.
